Met office predicts rain across Bangladesh

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today (July 5) predicted light to moderately heavy rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over eight divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy at places over the country.

According to the BMD office bulletin, light to moderately heavy rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy at places over the country.

The axis of monsoon trough runs through Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across central part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends up to North Bay.

Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay.

Country’s maximum temperature on Thursday was recorded 33.5degree Celsius at Chuadanga and minimum temperature today was recorded 23.7 degree Celsius at Teknaf.

Maximum rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6am today was recorded 54 millimeters (mm) at Chandpur.

Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
